The Talk (13-14h)
For the past decade, Kelli Anderson has used paper engineering to seek out incredible possibilities hiding in print media. Humble paper can act as a direct interface on sound, light, and time; making these abstractions tangible and accessible. This is because these radically minimalist structures behave in concert with the physical and social forces which structure our world.
Kelli’s talk will focus on her paper-based experiments— from using the risograph to pint moving-ink animations to her new book on letterform, Alphabet in Motion: How Letters Get Their Shape.
The Workshop (14:30-18:30)
No Unbound event without a hands-on workshop! Be one of 10 lucky participants to join Kelli in her sought-after Riso Intensive animation workshop where you learn how turn a video or gif it into a 2-colour looping Riso animation and connect with fellow designers. We will cover how to output frames, how to automate a contact sheet, how to choose color separations, and finally: how to stitch it all back together again to create your very own and unique Riso animation.
NOTE: This workshop requires professional knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and you need to bring your laptop and a short animation, video or gif (you will receive instructions for this after signup).
