Teamleder for KK Design – Københavns Kommunes internal designbureau

Are you a competent professional leader who can support and develop a team of creative employees in the City of Copenhagen’s internal design agency? And can you ensure effective visual communication to Copenhagen’s citizens and maintain a good dialogue with our many different clients across the municipality? Then you might be the new Team Leader for KK Design.

Visual communication is an important part of delivering professional, clear, and relevant communication to the citizens of Copenhagen. In the role of Team Leader for KK Design, you will have significant influence on the operation and development of our visual communication.

About the job

KK Design is responsible for the City of Copenhagen’s visual identity and handles strategic and graphic design tasks for many different clients across the municipality’s seven departments. In this way, the team functions as the municipality’s internal design agency. We focus on strengthening and optimizing the City of Copenhagen’s overall brand and ensuring consistency throughout its visual communication. We are also responsible for maintaining and developing the municipality’s visual identity.

Daily work includes a wide variety of tasks ranging from the development of campaigns, identities, reports, urban posters, and digital communication to day-to-day graphic production such as smaller layout assignments, postcards, business cards, and revisions of previous productions. Topics may include everything from public schools and dementia care to municipal planning and major events, which have previously included the Tour de France, Copenhagen Street Days, and Copenhagen Sprint.

You will be expected to take the lead in fostering good and constructive collaboration with our many different clients across both your own and other municipal departments.

You will ensure the best possible framework for daily task execution, including making sure that our workflows function optimally. At the same time, you should be able to identify development opportunities for both individual employees and the team as a whole.

You will be responsible for the daily planning and prioritization of tasks, as well as sparring and quality assurance on our highly varied assignments. This also includes managing everything from vacation schedules to software licenses, etc.

You will hold one-on-one meetings with team members and facilitate weekly team meetings.

We offer

The team consists of a project manager, a coordinator, and nine designers and graphic artists with experience from design agencies, self-employment, and internal municipal work. We also occasionally have students and interns in the team, and during busy periods we make use of freelancers.

You can expect a challenging job with meaningful tasks, substantial responsibility, and strong opportunities for both professional and personal development.

You will work closely with the Head of Communications, who has personnel responsibility for both you and the employees in KK Design. Together with the Head of Communications, you will also be responsible for ensuring that KK Design’s business model — including our resources and billable tasks — is sustainable and coherent.

Together with the Head of Communications and the Team Leader of our other team, Team Communication, you will form the management group of the department.
