FILM SCREENING: VERNER PANTON – A LIFE IN COLOR

Date: Februar 19
Time: 18.00-20.00
Location: Festsalen, Designmuseum Danmark, Bredgade 68, København

To mark the 100th anniversary of Verner Panton’s birth, Designmuseum Denmark, in collaboration with DR, invites you to a screening of the documentary film Verner Panton – A Life in Color.

Verner Panton (1926–1998) is considered one of the most visionary and groundbreaking figures in Danish design history. While many of his contemporaries worked with wood and natural colors, Panton insisted on strong colors, plastic, and organic shapes. His colorful lamps, chairs, and total environments were provocative at the time, but today they are internationally recognized design icons.

Panton dreamed of making us freer and was far from the ideals of Danish design. Therefore, he had to look to Europe to find manufacturers who dared to invest in his visions. This marked the beginning of an international career in which he achieved his major breakthrough.

This year, the Danish global star would have turned 100, and from Basel in Switzerland, Panton’s daughter and widow are working hard to preserve his design legacy.

Film screening and introduction

Before the screening, there will be an introduction to the film by the program’s organizer, Anne Pedersen from DR, and Anders Ib Michelsen, associate professor and PhD at the University of Copenhagen, who is co-author of the book Panton – miljøer, farver, systemer, mønstre (Panton – environments, colors, systems, patterns). Refreshments will also be available for purchase.

Event is free but needs registration.
