Organized by Statens Værksteder for Kunst.
With the exhibition “Kinship,” designer Birgitte Due Madsen (BDM), architect Anne Dorthe Vester (ADV), and design curator Henriette Noermark (HNA) have collaborated to create a well-defined common ground where each party’s contributions are equally significant. Together, they have crafted a series of handmade furniture pieces composed of terrazzo bases combined with seats made of lightweight lamellar structures. The lightness of the seats becomes apparent when juxtaposed with the heavy terrazzo modules, and although the final design of the lamellar structure may seem fragile at first glance, it is robust and durable in its construction.
About the Exhibitors:
Designer Birgitte Due Madsen centers her work around craftsmanship and quality. Her professional integrity lies in her fascination with long-term projects that explore elements such as materiality and aesthetics, allowing objects to evolve in abstract form before taking shape.
Architect Anne Dorthe Vester approaches both architecture and design with an experimental and exploratory mindset firmly rooted in the Danish design tradition. Her projects begin with the study of materials and their processing, always seeking to unfold their inherent qualities and technical potential.
Henriette Noermark is an independent curator with a focus on the dialogue between design, architecture, and art. She has curated exhibitions at venues such as the Heartland Festival and Chart, and has published articles in publications like Oak – The Nordic Journal, Elle Decoration, Børsen Pleasure, and RUM, among others.
This event is FREE.
