BIENNALEN FOR KUNSTHÅNDVÆRK & DESIGN 2023

ÅBNING AF BIENNALEN FOR KUNSTHÅNDVÆRK & DESIGN 2023

Date: October 12th
Time: 17.00 - 20.00
Location: Copenhagen Contemporary Hal 6, Refshalevej 173A, 1432 København, Denmark

Take a seat at the dinner table, that’s set for a digital meal. Experience AI-generated daggers and the urn that shatters and converts into NFTs. Or how about seeing stolen artifacts, sold on eBay and recreated in 3D printing?

Biennalen for Crafts & Design, opening on October 12th, invites the audience into the new digital reality within the 658-square-meter Hall 6 at Copenhagen Contemporary, located in the magnificent old welding hall of B&W.

Each time, Biennalen leads the way and explores a highly relevant theme that sparks thoughts and pushes the boundaries of the entire field. This year’s theme is conversion. What role does physical craftsmanship and design play in the digital space? Can a work be transformed into an NFT – a digital collector’s item – and what does that mean for the experience?

Now, the audience has the opportunity to explore this through the 36 brand-new works created specifically for the exhibition, focusing on the potential of craftsmanship in a digital era. All of these works passed through the eye of the needle when an external expert jury selected this year’s exhibitors, which include both experienced and young talents. Among the exhibitors are Lene Bødker, Esben Kaldahl, Pernille Snedker Hansen, Kristine Mansberg, Tronhjem Rømer, and Wang & Söderström.

This event is FREE.
